PSC seeks to control data centers with ‘balancing act’ between Alabama Power, ratepayers

A powerful Alabama agency may change how it oversees contracts between power companies and large customers like data centers.

The Alabama Public Service Commission has used the same regulations since the 1990s.

Now, spurred on by competitive elections, new committee members and new legislation, the commission is considering changes to make sure that data center projects don’t come at the expense of smaller consumers.
